New School Building

Frank Sinatra School of the Arts

Exploring the Arts completed a successful capital campaign to help support the construction of a new building for Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, the public high school Susan and Tony founded in partnership with the NYC Department of Education. The school moved into its brand new home in September, 2009 at the start of 2009-2010 school year. The building is located in Tony's hometown of Astoria, Queens at the Kaufman Astoria Studios complex.

The new building has been outfitted with the most modern and professional facilities and is home to The Tony Bennett Concert Hall, The Iris Cantor Roof Garden, The George Kaufman Atrium, The Rose Miniaci Family Media Room, The Ann L. Siegel Art Studio, and The Breitling Family Dance Studio, in addition to state of the art choral and orchestral classrooms, a multi-media technology center, beautiful library, and competition-size gymnasium.

The philosophy guiding the building's design was to provide a home for the school that would better serve its students' and teachers' needs, showcase the arts, and embrace its surrounding community. The exterior is therefore not one of brick but of glass, with large windows that visually invite those on the outside in.
