ETA Partner School Student Wins Playwriting Contest
Katarzyna (Kathy) Roszczeda, a 12th grade Drama major at the ETA-supported Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, is the Grand Prize Winner of FutureStage's playwriting contest for NYC teens. Not only was she invited to meet the cast of Billy Elliot on its opening night in Chicago, but her winning short play will be published by Samuel French and performed at the Imperial Theatre on June 14th. ETA Produces Video with The Kennedy Center
The 1st video in ETA's new Exploring the Arts with the Masters series is now available on The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts' Education website, which provides free arts education programming to teachers and students nationwide. The video features iconic songwriting duo, Alan & Marilyn Bergman, along with Tony Bennett in conversation and performance with high school students and ASCAP's Director of Musical Theatre, Michael Kerker, at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts. We are proud to offer students around the country the opportunity to learn from some of the greatest master artists of our time as they speak about their craft and tremendous contributions to The Great American Songbook. Mayor Bloomberg Speaks at ETA Partner School, FSSA
NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg delivered his State of the City address this morning in the brand new Tony Bennett Concert Hall at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts. Susan spoke about the school's special accomplishments, the student choir performed, and Tony introduced the Mayor, who upon reaching the podium had this to say: "Tony and his wife Susan really are amazingly loyal and generous New Yorkers, and they've done so much for this school and this city. I don't care what Tony said about leaving his heart in San Francisco, he's always saved his greatest love for his hometown, and we couldn't be more proud or more grateful."

Ribbon Cutting Celebrates Grand Opening of FSSA

Tony and Susan hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts' new building yesterday morning. They were joined by Schools Chancellor Joel Klein, Nancy Sinatra, Quincy Jones, Peter Vallone Jr & Sr, Queens Borough President Helen Marshall, and various members of the NY State Assembly and US Congress. ETA's 3rd Annual Benefit Gala Raised Over $1.7 Million Dollars

Exploring the Arts' 3rd Annual Gala was a huge success. It was held at Cipriani Wall Street on September 21st, 2009. The event honored longtime ETA-supporter and tremendous philanthropist, John Kluge, on the occasion of his 95th birthday. President Bill Clinton made a surprise appearance to speak in support of arts education and present the Honoree's award. The very funny Nathan Lane hosted the evening's program, which included an art exhibition and performance by students from Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, along with live performances by k.d. lang and ETA's own Tony Bennett. Among those in attendance were Regis Philbin, Quincy Jones, Bruce Willis, Carol Alt and Dr. Ruth.

New School Building Open for 1st Day of School
It was with tremendous excitement that Tony, Susan, and Exploring the Arts staff joined students and teachers on September 9th, 2009 at the brand new building for Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, which opened for the new school year. The school's new home is located in Tony's hometown of Astoria, Queens at the Kaufman Astoria Studios complex. It was an emotional day for all and the culmination of a dream 10 years in the making! ETA Donates Instruments in New Orleans

Exploring the Arts partnered with the Jaffin Family, O Magazine, Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation, and the Gibson Foundation's Music Rising program to donate $100,000 worth of new instruments to the KIPP Believe College Prep School in New Orleans. Exploring the Arts and the Jaffin Family also helped facilitate a donation of gently used instruments to two public schools, Urban Assembly for the Performing Arts and Central Park East One, in the New York City neighborhood of Harlem.
